　　具體分析起來，新托福的基礎(chǔ)理解題除插話題和修辭目的題外，主要仍是現(xiàn)行托福中使用的傳統(tǒng)題型。

　　基礎(chǔ)理解題定義：基礎(chǔ)理解題重點(diǎn)考查讀者對(duì)基礎(chǔ)項(xiàng)目的理解，特別是托福 閱讀讀者根據(jù)文章的.詞匯、句法和語(yǔ)義內(nèi)容，理解把握重要信息的能力。它包括以下八個(gè)具體題型：

　　詞匯題(Vocabulary)：考查讀者根據(jù)上下文理解特定詞和短語(yǔ)的能力。這種題型雖難度不大，但占每篇文章后所有題目的三分之一，故考生仍應(yīng)重視起來。

　　例題1 Passage:

　　"In the animal world the task of moving about is fulfilled in many ways. For some animals locomotion is

　　accomplished by changes in body shape..."The word locomotion in the passage is closest in meaning to
